Shoe code marking pilot project launched in Russia

An experimental project of marking shoe products with identification codes started in Russia on the 1st of June. It will be voluntary at the first stage, and it will last until the 30th of June, 2019. The decree on this issue was published on the website of the Russian Government.

Manufacturers, importers of shoe products and wholesale and retail companies will participate in this pilot project. Such companies as Kari, Zenden, Sportmaster, Yegorievsk-Shoes, Kotofey, Paris Commune Factory, and others are among the participants. The goal of the experiment is to test the code marking mechanism as a countermeasure to illegal imports, manufacturing and sales of shoe products, and as a measure to increase import and internal taxes collection rates, and as a measure to analyze expedience of obligatory introduction of code marking, and as a measure to evaluate the effectiveness of the information systems, the document states. The code marking will become obligatory for all the market participants from the 1st of July, 2019.

The document also informs that Operator-CRPT OOO will be an operator of the information system applied within the framework of the project on a free of charge basis. The project will be carried out by the efforts and with support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Ministry of Finance, the Russian Ministry of the Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, the Russian Federal Security Service, the Russian Federal Customs Service, and the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing.
