Mir Detstva’2008, the 14th International Exhibition for Goods and Services for Children and Teenagers, New Personality Development Programmes, ran at Expocentre Fairgrounds, Moscow on 28-31 October. As one of the largest tradeshows of its kind in Russia and the CIS, Mir Detstva displayed a wide range of kid-oriented products, covered all aspects relating to youth and childhood issues, as well as to mental and physical development of the young generation. The Exhibition was held under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with support from the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation and Moscow Government. Mir Detstva is registered and approved by UFI – the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, and RUEF – the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs. It proudly carries their logos as a label of quality, and enjoys a high international profile.

This year the Exhibition showed a positive growth pattern. Display area totaled 13 500 sqm, almost 20% larger than last year. That figure is record high in the Show’s history. The number of Mir Detstva’2008 exhibitors exceeded 500 representing over 1 400 brands from 30 countries that include Belarus, Belgium, Canada, China, Czechia, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, the Netherlands, Panama, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, USA, and Ukraine.

The popularity of the Exhibition as the largest display of high quality products for children and teenagers attracted attention of leading foreign and domestic manufacturers, and education programme developers.

Participation by renowned international companies such as, to name a few, Avent (UK), Mattel (USA), Artsana-Chicco, Cam Il Mondo Del Bambino, Pali (Italy), Dorel Juvenille Group (the Netherlands), Adamex, Tako (Poland), Lego (Denmark) emphasized the international status of the tradeshow. Russian products for kids were displayed by Nord Plast, Zvezda, Tekhnolog, IP Sdobina, Red Star, Golden Goose, Russian Style, Votkinskaya Industrial Company, Ogoniok Plant, and other companies.

Arranged thematically, Mir Detstva’2008 included such sections as Games and Entertainment, Education and Development, Health and Comfort.

The Exhibition featured Child & Junior Fashion’2008, the 8th Specialized Salon of Clothes, Footwear and Accessories for Children and Teenagers; the 9th International Festival of Balloons; and Our Orphanage charity event.

The program of Mir Detstva’2008 related events comprised the 2nd Specialized Trade Forum ‘Strategic Challenges in the Market for Goods and Services for Children and Teenagers’; a Conference ‘Goods for Children: New Markets and Strategies for Communicating with the Consumer’; a Seminar and Conference ‘Logistics of Distributing Children’s’ Goods’; the 2nd All-Russian Forum of Model Makers, etc. The Exhibition programme also included such contests as For High Consumer Qualities of Goods, For Successful Promotion of Quality Goods and the Best Enterprise of the 21st Century.

The Mir Detstva International Exhibition will help create favorable conditions to bring up and develop children.
