October 28-31, 2009 Mir Detstva’2009 - the 15th International Exhibition for Goods and Services for Children and Teenagers; New Educational and Personality Development Programmes, and CJF-Children’s Fashion’2009 - the 3rd International exhibition took place at Expocentre Fairgrounds.

The Shows organized by Expocentre were successfully held under the patronage of the Russian Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industry and with the support from the Russian Federation Public Chamber of and the Moscow City Government. The high international status the Mir Detstva exhibition is approved by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) and the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs (RUEF). 

Mir Detstva is a permanent industry leader in Russia, the CIS countries and Baltic States reflecting all world trends of the new goods and services for children and teenagers market development, it is an unrivalled project neither by quality nor by number of exponents and specialists.  The exhibition offers great opportunities to modernize manufacture facilities, to raise competitiveness of children’s goods and to make an innovative industry of the present one.

This year Mir Detstva has celebrated its 15th anniversary. The first edition was held in 1994; holding frequency – annually since 1996. For 15 years of its existence the Show has established itself as industrial exhibition project No.1.  

Mir Detstva is a project of social importance.  “We are pleased to note with great satisfaction that the Exhibition, the largest tradeshow of its kind in Russia and the CIS countries, demonstrates high quality goods and services for children and teenagers meant for the improvement of education and healthcare systems as well as upbringing of the younger generation. The Show reflects all world trends of the new goods and services for children and teenagers market development”, marked in the welcome address Valentina Petrenko, Chairwoman of the Federal Assembly Committee on Social Policy and Healthcare.

First of all the Show is aimed to develop a civilized market of goods for children and teenagers and to saturate it with high quality products.    

The grouping of the Exposition into thematic sections simplified navigation through the Exhibition.

The GOODS FOR NEWBORNS and TOYS, GAMES, HOBBY salons were of unchangeable interest to visitors. 

CJF – Children’s Fashion, owing to its speedy development, has successfully evolved from the Specialized Salon of Clothes, Footwear and Accessories for Children and Teenagers to an independent project within the bounds of the Mir Detstva Exhibition - a separate CJF – Children’s Fashion International Exhibition.  

For years of its existence the Salon has shown itself as an effective business-place, an irreplaceable marketing channel, an efficient way to increase sales and an effective remedy to gain profits from the taken-up investments.        

Marketing studies confirmed the buyers’ great interest in the development of a specialized exhibition of children’s and teenagers’ fashion and clothes for prospective mothers.     

Taking into account the market trends and wishes of companies-participants and specialists-visitors of CJF – Children’s Fashion, starting from 2010 Expocentre will arrange this exhibition, in accordance with the wholesale purchasing season, twice a year – in February and September.

According to the results of the shows one can say that the Russian industry of goods and services for children and teenagers is aimed with confidence at the future. 

The Mir Detstva and CJF – Children’s Fashion projects are bright and dynamic exhibitions.  The total exhibition space amounted about   35 000 sq meters.  529 companies - Russian and foreign leaders of the industry, demonstrated their goods. Participation of companies and organizations from 31 countries confirmed  the high international status of the Show.  The total attendance increased by 30% and reached 24 040 visitors.  Number of specialists visited the exhibition increased by 10% in comparison with last year.

According to the data of the independent audit the shows were visited by specialists from all Russian regions; the number of visitors from the CIS and foreign countries also increased. Most exponents were satisfied with the results during the shows, and expressed their readiness to participate next year.    

The growing interest in the Mir Detstva and CJF – Children’s Fashion shows is an evidence of their importance and relevance.   

“Problems relating to maternity and childhood, to the improvement of the demographic situation are top important in modern Russia. Creation of auspicious conditions for the successful development of the domestic children’s goods manufacture is a vital constituent of a package of measures to solve these problems. We are positive that the Exhibition will encourage cooperation between related enterprises and organizations; it will enhance the development of the modern children’s goods market and will help to saturate it with qualitative and safe goods”, noted Nina Ostanina, Deputy of the Russian Federation State Duma and Head of the Regional Charity Fond “We Won’t Leave You in Trouble.

The exhibition showcased world renowned trade marks such as Adamex, ALEX,  Arsana-Chicco, Avent, Barbie, Brevi, Cam Il Mondo Del Bambino, Concord, Deloras, Disney, Dorel Juvenille Group, Fisher-Pisher-Price, Gots, Gremmy, Hansa, Lego, Pali, Playmobile, Schleich, Nuby, Inglesina, Ravensburger, Per-Perego,  Neonato, Vitacci, Smoby, Intex, Winx and many others.

Russian  children’s goods and services were demonstrated by the following leading companies: Bauyer, Baby-Be,  Krasnaya Zvezda, Ljubimka,  Mir Detstva Company, Nordplast, Ogonek Factory, Orbita PPO, Russkii Stil, Sdobina IP, Stellar, Vesna, Votkinskaya Promyshlennaya Kompaniya, Zolotoy Gus, Zvezda and others.   

Thematic sections and the professionally prepared programme of business-related events gave the participants and visitors an opportunity to get comprehensive overview of the goods and services for children and teenagers market development, health care, saving technologies, new innovative pedagogical projects and advanced information technologies.   

“Issues relating to health protection of the younger generation, the healthy life-style publicity are of great importance to-day, and require new technologies and solutions”, marked Andrei Fursenko, Minister of the Russian Federation Education and Science.    

Permanent participants rate highly the Mir Detstva and CJF – Children’s Fashion exhibitions not only for the professional organization but for the substantial and social and cultural programme.  This year events have confirmed it.

Mir Detstva’2009 continued the tradition of holding a Charity Action “Our Children’s Home” to raise donations for youngsters in children’s homes. The Action was organized by the RF CCI Charity Fund and Expocentre.   

The 10th anniversary International Festival of Balloons, an enchanting, fabulous and the only in the world show, was organized by Europa Uni Trade Company and Expocentre. This year the Festival was unprecedented by size. We express our particular gratitude to Expoconsta for the Festival preparation. Expoconsta, the Expocentre General Developer, is a sponsor of the Festival for many years.

This time it was a festival of three jubilees! Mir Detstva celebrated its 15th anniversary; Belbal Company, one of the largest balloons producers in Europe marked the 25th jubelee and the Moscow International Festival of Balloons was 10 years old. 

The Festival programme comprised: 

I.     A Contest of professional event designers specializing in balloon decoration.

    The Contest was held in three nominations:

  1. The Large Arrangement of Balloons. Theme – ‘Heroes of the Disney’s favorite  animated’ cartoon films
  2. The Top Table Arrangement of Balloons. Theme – Saint Valentine’s Day
  3. The ‘Black Box’ Contest - a desktop composition from the previously prepared balloons and accessories set
  4. Contest of Decoration by Photography. Theme – Child’s birthday 

II.   A training Seminar on the balloon decoration art.

The best Russian decorators as well as their colleagues from Great Britain, Italy and Ukraine gave their master classes. The winners were rewarded with Grand Prix, diplomas and pecuniary prizes. Professional contestants as well as beginners took part in the Festival.  

The practical master class ‘The New Year shop decoration: maximum result for the minimum cost!’ was of great interest to buyers.  

The ‘Digital World’ Game Festival was a novelty of the exhibition. This is an interactive programme for the younger generation aiming to heighten its educational attainment in the field of information technologies. The event was held under the slogan “Innovations since Childhood”. The Festival programme comprised the IT students e-cup 2009 Contests, the Digital Route Interactive Programme, master classes, lottery drawings, the Robotics – To-Day programme and a computer games tournament. Over 600 persons participated in the Digital Route Interactive Programme.

The Mir Detstva’2009 and CJF – Children’s Fashion’2009 programme of business-related events comprised over 30 events.  

The 3rd Specialized Trade Forum “Russian Market of Children’s Goods: Strategic Solutions for Suppliers” took place with great successes on October 27.   

About 300 delegates from over 20 Russian cities and towns took part in the Forum. Such attention from the participants’ side confirmed the relevance of subjects touched upon at the event. The Forum became a unique platform to receive information and to exchange opinions of the market participants. The Forum delegates got the unique and saturated information about the market, changers of consumers’ behavior in the Russian market of children’s goods, modern effective strategies; they heard the opinions of leaders of the companies manufacturing children’s goods, experts of the industry, representatives of retail networks and research companies.   

At the end of the Forum a Centre of Network Purchasing was held.  Wholesale buyers from 25 retail networks including Detskiy Mir, Zdorovyi malysh, Deti, Planetakinds, Akademia, Limpampo participated in the Centre. Such networks as Kenguru, KinderLandia, Nasha Mama, Oblachko, Pozitiv (Naberezhnye Chelny), Sandy (Vladimirskaya oblast) and Stok-centr (Moscow) took part in the Centre of Network Purchasing for the first time.  The Negotsiant network of goods for home opened a new department – the department of toys. The network representatives carried on negotiations with manufacturers and wholesalers on possible purchases for their new department.  

The Mir Detstva’2009 and CJF – Children’s Fashion’2009 Buyer Programme is designed to maximize the efficiency of the exponents’ participation in the events and to develop business co-operation. This is an effective programme of new business connections with exponents. Its main purpose is to maximize commercial success of exhibiting.  The participation in the Buyer Programme allows to save costs, time and to increase the exhibiting efficiency in 2-3 times.

The unique events of the CJF – Children’s Fashion’2009 exhibition became:

Children’s Catwalk. The programme comprised bright shows of clothes and accessories for children and teenagers by leading manufacturers.  

For the first time within the bounds of the Children’s Catwalk project clothes fashion shows were arranged by the PROfashion magazine and the PROfashion Kids catalogue with the organizational support from Expocentre.  During three day this enchanting sight attracted hundreds of spectators. The shows were opened by participants of the Neposedy theatre studio.

The first show, in the austere fashion style, was held with participation of the Moscow Dreams Agency models.  The following companies demonstrated their collections there: Sophie Catalu, AV-Textil (the Wenice, Puledro, SJW trade-marks), Vneshtorg ( the Yula trade-mark), Yuko and Malenkaya ledy.  

The second show arranged by the Walt Disney Company was held as a theatrical performance with participation of the Neposedy theatre studio children. They demonstrated collections of clothes, footwear and accessories with images of the Disney’s popular heroes such as Vinnie-the-Pooh and his friends, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and many others.  

The Children’s Catwalk was given the green light. In several months the bright shows will please visitors of the CJF – Children’s Fashion’2010. Spring exhibition; it will take place at the Expocentre Fairgrounds on October 24-28, 2010.

Fashion Industry: the World of Children’s and Teen Clothing, Business Conference, comprised the overview of the Russian children’s fashion market: niches, 2009-2010 key trends and priorities.

International Day

During this unique event of the Mir Detstva’2009 Exhibition trade representatives of embassies, foreign associations, foreign manufacturers and trading companies familiarized themselves with peculiarities of the Russian market of goods and services for children and teenagers and new opportunities to enter it. 

The Inventory, Customs Value and Customs Regulations for Children’s Goods Imported into the Russian Federation Conference

The purpose of the Conference was to develop the constructive interaction between customs authorities and foreign-economic activity members, to keep on improving, hastening and simplifying the customs execution as well as to exclude a violation of the regulations for consumer goods imported into the Russian Federation in future.  

The Healthy Eating for Mums and Children scientific and practical Conference

A whole range of issues relating to the healthy eating for children was touched upon at the Conference. The support from governmental and public organizations and the attraction of the industry leading specialists created a favorable platform for the comprehensive discussion of the healthy eating scientific systems. The scientific programme familiarized the participants with main developments of the healthy children’s eating principals, the National programme for breast feeding of infants under one year, the experience of implementation of the healthy eating regional programmes and the overall results of implementation of pilot projects on improving Catering in Educational Institutions. 

The program of Mir Detstva’2009 and CJF - Children’s Fashion’2009 related events also comprised the 5th annual Conference ‘Children’s Goods and Services: New Trends, a Seminar and Conference ‘Logistics of Distributing Children’s’ Goods’; the 3rd All-Russian Forum of Model Makers and the 5th International Contest among goods for children and teenagers.  

The participation in professional events of Mir Detstva and CJF-Children’s Fashion opens great opportunities for the participants to promote their product, demonstrate their reliability and stability in the market. The exhibition as a marketing instrument demonstrates a company and its products as well as gives an opportunity for b2b communications.
